Movie Curiosities

Jackass 3D (Trailer)

I’m not normally a fan of Jackass. Never watched the show, never seen any of the movies. I just couldn’t see the appeal in watching idiots put their lives on the line by way of stupid stunts, either on TV, YouTube or whatever else have you. But then this trailer hit.

Filming crazy and life-threatening stunts IN 3D. I don’t know who it was that came up with this idea, but I wish I could shake his hand.

I know it sounds crazy, but I really do feel like this is the perfect example of what we were promised when Hollywood started churning out 3D movies. It doesn’t take a genius to see that a recording of something stupid is no substitute for actually being there when it happens, and 3D is the next best thing. Really, anything that removes the barrier of the screen is just going to make the insanity that much more immersive, “dangerous” and fun.

Just watch the trailer, try to think about how the 3D couldn’t be utilized and tell me this won’t make for some damn good entertainment. Also, if there’s anyone out there who wasn’t surprised or amused by that last “high five” gag, I don’t ever want to meet him.

I really don’t know what else I have to say. The trailer and the concept speak for themselves. Jackass. In 3D. October 15th.

I hold a B.S. in Bioinformatics, the only one from Pacific University's Class of '09. I was the stage-hand-in-chief of my high school drama department and I'm a bass drummer for the Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers. I dabble in video games and I'm still pretty good at DDR. My primary hobby is going online for upcoming movie news. I am a movie buff, a movie nerd, whatever you want to call it. Comic books are another hobby, but I'm not talking about Superman or Spider-Man or those books that number in the triple-digits. I'm talking about Watchmen, Preacher, Sandman, etc. Self-contained, dramatic, intellectual stories that couldn't be accomplished in any other medium. I'm a proud son of Oregon, born and raised here. I've been just about everywhere in North and Central America and I love it right here.
